Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Price Hider application ("App", "Service") provided by Hjelm.co ("we", "us", "our"). By installing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Service Description

Price Hider is a Shopify application designed to help merchants manage price visibility. Its features include:

  • Hiding prices for selected products or collections based on your configuration
  • Replacing "Add to Cart" buttons with "Request Quote" buttons
  • Creating Draft Orders in your Shopify admin upon quote requests
  • Sending email notifications for new quote requests

2. Eligibility

To use Price Hider, you must:

  • Have an active Shopify store
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have the authority to bind your business to these Terms

3. Account and Access

3.1 Installation

The App is installed through the Shopify App Store. Installation grants us access to specific Shopify API scopes required for the App to function properly.

3.2 Permissions

The App requires the following Shopify permissions:

  • write_products / read_products — To access product data for hiding logic
  • write_draft_orders / read_draft_orders — To generate quotes
  • read_themes — To assess theme compatibility and embed status

4. Fees and Billing

4.1 Pricing Plans

  • Free Trial: 14-day free trial period for new installations.
  • Monthly Plan: $8.99 USD per month.
  • Annual Plan: $89.99 USD per year.

4.2 Billing Method

All billing is handled directly by Shopify. Charges will appear on your Shopify invoice. We do not process payments or store credit card information.

4.3 Refunds and Cancellation

  • You may cancel the App at any time by uninstalling it from your Shopify admin.
  • No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.
  • If you uninstall before your free trial ends, you will not be charged.

4.4 Price Changes

We reserve the right to modify pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Existing subscriptions will retain their current pricing until the next renewal cycle.

5. Theme Integration and Technical Limitations

5.1 Theme App Extensions

Price Hider utilizes Shopify's Theme App Extensions (App Embeds) to minimize code leftovers.

  • Cleanup: Upon uninstallation, the app embed is automatically disabled.
  • Manual Check: While we aim for automatic cleanup, we recommend verifying your theme settings after uninstallation.

5.2 Theme Compatibility

The App is optimized for Shopify Online Store 2.0 themes. However, we do not guarantee compatibility with:

  • Highly customized or non-standard themes
  • Themes that use heavy JavaScript for rendering products
  • Third-party Page Builders (e.g., Shogun, GemPages) unless explicitly supported
  • Custom "Quick View" or "Ajax Cart" drawers

5.3 Third-Party App Conflicts

Important: Other apps installed on your store (e.g., Search & Discovery apps, Product Filters, Currency Converters) may load product data dynamically, bypassing our hiding logic. We are not responsible if prices remain visible within widgets controlled by other third-party apps.

5.4 Loading Delays (Flash of Content)

Due to the nature of web browsers, there may be a slight delay (milliseconds) between the page loading and the App hiding the price. This is known as a "Flash of Original Content." You acknowledge that this behavior may occur depending on the user's internet speed and device.

6. Limitation of Liability

PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY.

6.1 "As Is" Service

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

6.2 Price Display Disclaimer

We act as a frontend interface tool. We are strictly NOT liable for:

  • Revenue loss due to prices being displayed unintentionally.
  • "Flash of Original Content" where a price is visible for a split second before hiding.
  • Prices incorrectly displaying as $0.00 instead of being hidden due to configuration errors or theme conflicts.
  • Orders placed at incorrect prices due to App failure.

It is your sole responsibility to:

  • Regularly test the App on your live store.
  • Verify that the App works correctly with your specific theme and other installed apps.

6.3 Damages

In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the App.

6.4 Maximum Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be limited to the amount you paid us for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.

7. Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Test the App on a duplicate/development theme before publishing to your live store.
  • Configure the App settings correctly to ensure the right products are hidden.
  • Manage the "Draft Orders" created by the App appropriately.
  • Not use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
  • Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or copy the App's source code.

8. Draft Orders and Customer Data

8.1 Ownership

Draft Orders created by the App are stored in your Shopify admin and belong to you. We do not have ownership of your sales data.

8.2 Data Handling

When a customer requests a quote, we process their data (email, message, product selection) to generate the Draft Order. You are responsible for handling this customer data in compliance with your own Privacy Policy and local regulations (e.g., GDPR).

9. Support

9.1 Availability

We provide support via email at support@hjelm.co. We aim to respond within 2 business days, but we do not guarantee a specific resolution time.

9.2 Scope

Support is limited to fixing bugs within our App and assisting with configuration. Support does not include:

  • Writing custom code for your theme.
  • Debugging conflicts caused by other third-party apps.
  • Fixing issues arising from your modifications to theme files.

10. Termination

10.1 Termination by You

You may terminate these Terms at any time by uninstalling the App.

10.2 Termination by Us

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms or if we are required to do so by law.

11. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the App (excluding content provided by users) are and will remain the exclusive property of Hjelm.co. The App is protected by copyright and other laws of both Sweden and foreign countries.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Hjelm.co and its owners, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be settled by the courts of Sweden.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of these Terms. By continuing to use the App after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
